I believe it was in The Deposit Courier (but it isn't labeled). The date handwritten on it is July 22, 1942. William died on July 21. OBITUARY July 22, 1942 William Kelly Dies From Injuries Fall from Porch Fatal to Prominent Resident of Deposit Tuesday William Kelly, 72, of Deposit, died in the Deposit Private Hospital Tuesday night of injuries received Monday evening at 8:30 when he fell from a back porch. Mr. Kelly, a resident of Deposit for 30 years, was widely known and loved for his genial manner and friendliness. For many years residents have looked forward to his humorous greetings and hearty laugh as he operated the Walton-Deposit bus line for which he long held a franchise. He also operated several star mail lines out of Deposit. Prior to the bus and mail activities, he was for years a welcome dealer among southern tier dairymen and owned several dairy farms. Everything possible was done to insure the small chance of recovery held forth by Doctors Latimer, of Deposit, and Griffin, of Binghamton, but to no avail. Mr. Kelly leaves a wife, Lillian. Also eight children by his former wife, Dolly McClure, and two step-children, Earl Crane, of Deposit, and Helen Thomson, of Afton. Three daughters, Julia Van Cott, Isabell Fleming, and Frances Phelan, of New York City, arrived shortly before his passing. It is hoped that sons, Walter, Fort Knox, Ky., and Verner, Fort Sam Houston, Tex., will arrive for burial services. Harvey Kelly, McClure; William Kelly, Sidney, and Blanch Smith, of Oquaga Lake, were there with their father soon after the accident. Always active, Mr. Kelly scorned idleness. To the moment of his death he could be found actively employed from 5 A. M. until 11 P. M. each day of the year. It is believed that he may have become dizzy from the intense heat following a long day of extra and routine duties. Unable to explain the incident, the family disclosed it is only known he had just gone to the second floor rear porch of the high three story home. His wife, Lillian, chanced to glimpse his form falling over the high railing from where he sat on an improvised seat across a corner. He received several fractures of one arm, broken ribs and a broken pelvis. Mr. Kelly also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Frances Kelley, Washington D.C., and Mrs. Pearl McNair, of Windsor. Funeral services will be held Sunday in the Methodist Church at 2 P. M. Masonic services will be held at the cemetery. Funeral is in charge of Cecil H. Lee. Friends may call at his home, 72 Front Street, after Thursday. Grandchildren are as follows: Livingston Cole, Miriam Kelly, (rest of obit missing)
