Bergan- After an illness of more than two years duration, Jeremiah J. Bergan, One of the best known residents of Auburn, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thomas Brennan, 131 1/2 VanAnden Street at about 8 o'clock this morning. Mr. Bergan was born in Ireland. When a young man, he came to this country and for 60 years he had resided in this city. The deceased was an honest industrious man, who was respected by all who knew him. Through out the city he had extended acquaintance and his death will be deplored by a large circle of friends. He was a devout Catholic and was one of the pioneer members of St. Mary's Parish. Ever since the dedication of St. Mary's Church he occupied the same pew in the church. He belonged to the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Thomas Brennan and Mrs. Charles Lynch of this city, Mrs. Maurice Early of Syracuse and Mrs. Joseph Kalet of Syracuse and by three sons, William P. and Martin Bergan of the city and Frank J. Bergan of Rochester. The funeral will take place from the home of William Bergan, 229 E. Genesee Street. Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock with services at St. Mary's at 9:30.
