Born in Bedford, Westchester County, NY. Descended from one of the original proprietors of Bedford founded in 1680. Father of 15 children and early pioneer to Powers Corners, Town of Springport, Cayuga County; arriving 1809 and occupying lots 94 and 95. Allied families: Weed, Lake, Schneck, Barnes. A direct line descending from him, remained in Union Springs until 1915. Ichabod was one of a family of brothers who were all Baptist preachers. The most famous of whom was Dr. Joel W. Clark, one of the 13 founders of Colgate University in Hamilton, Madison County, NY. Ichabod's wife was Sarah Weed, daughter of Gilbert Weed (1740-1823) also an early pioneer to the area.
