He was educated at Augustana College and Rock Island Seminary which conferred on him the A.M. and B.D. degrees, and at Central University, Chicago, which conferred on him the Ph. D. degree. From the pastorate at Red Oak, Iowa, he came to Jamestown to become pastor of the Lutheran Immanuel Church. Dr. Hanson has taken an active interest in Republican politics, is a member of the Kiwanis club, is President of the Board of Directors of the Gustavus Adolphus Home, and Vice President of the New York Conference.
