Greene Surrogate of said county, On the day and at the place aforesaid, Eliza Reed of the town of Poland in said county, appeared, and presented a petition that letters of administration of the goods, chattels, and credits of Thomas Reed late of the town of Poland in said county, deceased, be granted to the said petitioner, and Charles C. Allen. WHEREUPON, it was proved, to the satisfaction of the said Surrogate, that the said deceased, at the time of his death, was a resident of Poland in the County of Chautauqua. That he died at the town of Poland in the county of Chautauqua on the 21st day of July in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty two and that he left no last will and testament, according to the knowledge and belief of the said petitioner; and that the said petitioner has no doubt that the said deceased died intestate, and that the probable value of the personal estate of the said deceased is about five hundred dollars, and that the said petitioner is the widow of the said deceased, and that he left the following kindred entitled to his estate, to wit: Eliza Reed, his widow, of Poland, of full age, James M. Reed aged 5 years, Arba D. Reed 8 years, Charles M. Reed 10 years, Wm. T. Reed 12 years, John Reed 14 years, Thomas Reed 19 years, who all reside in said Town of Poland, Frank Reed & Edwin Reed who are over the age of 21 years of Ottawa, Illinois, Helen Morse, wife of Henry Morse of McKean Co. Pa., Harriet Stedman, wife of Nelson Stedman, of Poland aforesaid, all of whom are the children of the said deceased. WHEREUPON, it is ordered that letters of administration of the goods, chattels, and credits of the said deceased, be granted to Eliza Reed and Charles C. Allen on their entering into a bond to the people of the State, with two sufficient sureties, to be approved by the said Surrogate, in the penal sum of one thousand dollars, conditioned for the faithful execution of the trust reposed in them as such administrators and obeying all orders of the Surrogate of said county, and taking and subscribing the oath of office prescribed by law. WHEREUPON, on the 22nd day of August 1862 the said Eliza Reed & Charles C. Allen having produced the bond above required, duly executed and approved, and having each taken and subscribed the oath of office prescribed by law, which bond and oath are duly filed by the said Surrogate. It is further ordered that letters of administration be granted to the said Eliza Reed & Charles C. Allen of the goods, chattels, and credits, of the said deceased. It is further ordered, on the application of the said administrators that Seth W. Chandler and Daniel Griswold two disinterested persons of the town of Poland in said county of Chautauqua be appointed appraisers of the personal estate of the said deceased. S. S.
