At a Surrogate's Court, held at Sinclairville in and for the county of Chautauqua, this Third day of September 1858 before A. Richmond, Surrogate of said County. On the day and at the place aforesaid, Levi Town of the town of Conneaut state of Ohio, appeared and presented a petition that letters of administration of the goods, chattels and credits of Samuel Town late of the town of Arkwright in said county, deceased, be granted to the said petitioner. Whereupon, it was proved to the satisfaction of the said Surrogate, that the said deceased, at the time of his death, was a resident of the town of Arkwright in the county of Chautauqua. That he died in the county of Jo Daviss state Illinois on the Twenty Eighth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight and that he left no last will and testament, according to the knowledge and belief of the said petitioner; and that the said petitioner has no doubt that the said deceased died intestate, and that the probable value of the personal estate of the said deceased is about One Thousand dollars, and that the said petitoner is a son of the said deceased. That the said deceased left the following kindred entitled to his estate nz[sp] Mary Town of full age widow of said deceased - Gurdin Town of full age - William Town of full age - Lucretia W. Putnam of full age severally resides at Plainview Minnesota Territory. Levi Town of full age - Cora M Ransom of full age severally resides at Conneaut State of Ohio - Mary Ann Mathewson of full age - Betsey E. Perry of full age resides at Joe Davis county State of Illinois - all children of said deceased. Whereupon, it is ordered that letters of administration of the goods, chattels and credits, of the said deceased be granted to Levi Town on his entering into a bond to the people of the State, with two sufficient sureties, to be approved by the said Surrogate, in the penal sum of Fifteen Hundred dollars, conditioned for the faithful execution of the trust reposed in him as such administrator and obeying all orders of the Surrogate of said county, and taking and subscribing the oath of office prescribed by law. Whereupon, on the Third day of September 1858 the said Levi Town having produced the bond above required, duly executed and approved and having taken and subscribed the oath of office prescribed by law, which bond and oath are duly filed by the said Surrogate. It is further ordered that letters of administration be granted to the said Levi Town of the goods, chattels and credits, of the said deceased. It is further ordered, on the application of the said administrat __________ and __________ two disinterested persons of the town of _________ in said county of _________ be appointed appraisers of the personal estate of the said deceased.
