Henderson of Sinclairville, Chautauqua County and state of New York made the Eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and sixty nine. I Sylvanus S. Henderson of the age of seventy six years, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do make & publish this my last will and testament. First. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Hannah Henderson all my personal property of whatever name or kind, and the use of all my real estate during her natural life to be accepted and received by her in lieu of dower. After the decease of my wife Hannah I give and devise to my son Rollin S. Henderson and his heirs forever the southern most part of my village lot in Sinclairville with the tenement thereon in which he now resides bound as follows. Beginning at the South West corner of my said village lot running thence Easterly along the South line of said lot (it being also the North line of James Triplers lot) eight rods including the highway, thence Northerly along said highway five rods, thence westerly parallel to the said South line of my said village lot to the line of the lot owned by Charles C. Henderson and now occupied by him eight rods, thence Southerly along said line to the place of beginning containing forty square rods of land be the same more or less. Second. At the decease of my said wife Hannah Henderson, I give and devise to my son William W. Henderson his heirs and assigns forever the certain piece or parcel of land comprising the Northern part of my village lot in Sinclairville on which my store buildings and residence are situated. Together with the tenement thereon bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake in the center of the highway (or main Street of Sinclairville) at the North west corner of my said village lot thence running North eighty eight degrees and thirty minutes east along the center of said highway eight rods; thence South one degree and thirty minutes East parallel to the East line of the lot owned & occupied by Charles C. Henderson ten rods; thence South eighty eight degrees and thirty minutes West parallel to the North line in the center of main Street and along the North line of land hereinbefore devised to Rollin S. Henderson eight rods; thence north on the West line of my said village lot one degree and thirty minutes West to the place of beginning containing eighty square rods be the same more or less. Third. At the decease of my wife Hannah Henderson, I give and devise to my youngest son Charles C. Henderson and to his heirs and assigns forever, the Southern two thirds of my wild lot of a little more than thirty acres, lying and being in the towns of Stockton and Gerry, said two thirds being bounded and described as follows: South by lands of Hudson C. Mathews and Thomas Bowen, East by the West bounds of the Dunkirk, Warren & Pittsburgh Rail Road, West by lands of George S. Harrison, North by a line parallel to the North bounds of Hudson C. Mathews land and a sufficient distance North therefrom so that there shall be contained in this piece of land hereby devised to the said Charles C. Henderson two thirds of the area contained in my said wild lot lying in the towns of Stockton and Gerry. Fourth. At the decease of said wife Hannah Henderson I give and devise to my son Rollin S. Henderson and my daughter Julia E. Harrison and their heirs and assigns forever, the Northern one third of my said wild lot situated in the town of Stockton and Gerry, bounded and described as follows North by lands of George S. Harrison, East by the East bounds of my said wild lot, South by the lands herein devised to my son Charles C. Henderson and West by lands of George S. Harrison. Lastly. I hereby appoint my son William W. Henderson sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. Sylvanus S. Henderson S.S. LaKin Surrogate Additional Comments: In, "The History of New York State Biographies, Part 44 Editor, Dr. James Sullivan", this person is known as Sylvanus Lyon Henderson but in the Probate records his middle initial is an unmistakable "S".
