All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ny/nyfiles.htm *********************************************************************** Transcribed from SAMPUBCO copy by Susan McGill Gardner Phillips of Stockton, Chautauqua County, New York Chautauqua co NY Will Book Vol 8 page 631 Written: 25 Jan 1882 Probated: 11 Jul 1887 In the name of God, Amen: I, Gardner Phillips of Stockton Chautauqua County NY aged 73 years March 20, 1882, being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, that is to say: First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged I give and bequeath the use, control, management and occupancy of my house of eleven acres on the south side of the Highway to my wife Sally Ann Phillips during her life, and the use of all my personal property during her life time, and if the use is not enough for her comfortable support, maintenance and convenience then to use whatever may be necessary for her comfortable support, maintenance and convenience during her natural life, and burial expenses and tomb stones, also tomb stones for myself of good substantial plain style. After the decease of myself and my wife, and all just expenses and debts are paid, whatever is left I give and bequeath to be equally divided between my six daughters Aurilla Ide now wife of George A.(?) Ide, Clarissa Ann Douglass now wife of Joseph Douglass, Betsey Ames now wife of Emery Ames, Phoebe E. Briggs now wife of David Briggs, Patty Seeley now wife of George Seeley, and Huldah M. Mansfield now wife of Curtis Mansfield share and share alike. If any of my said daughters should die before my death or the death of my said wife without leaving any descendents then surviving, their said share shall be equally divided with the shares of the other daughters as aforesaid. Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint my daughters Clarissa Ann Douglass and Phoebe E. Briggs to be Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty two. Gardner Phillips, L.S.
