The submittor has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ************************************************************************ From a Norwich, N.Y., Chenango Co. newspaper dated Dec. 3, 1937 Funeral services for George Cleveland, who died at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, will be held at the Bresee Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with burial in Mr. Hope. Friends wishing to call may do so at any time at the funeral home. Mr. Cleveland was born in East Worcester, N.Y., March 22, 1869, the son of Harmon and Olivia Cleveland and one of 21 children of which number 10 are now living. When a young man he moved to Norwich where he had spent most of his life in business and farming. He was engaged in the grocery business in this city for several years and about 28 years ago he moved to the farm on Lyon Brook road where he has since resided. Until health prevented he was very active in public affairs. He was Republican committeeman and Justice of the Peace for the Town of Norwich for a number of years. Until about a year ago he was trustee of school district 13, Town of Norwich. February 18 1891, he married Blanche McNITT, who survives him, with the following brothers and sisters: Willard, Herbert, Herman, Carlton and Grover Cleveland, and Mrs. Rose Handy, Mrs. Anne Fitch, Minnie Cleveland, Mrs. Grace Raab and Mrs. Lulu Miles, besides several nieces and nephews. He had many friends in Norwich and surrounding territory who will regret to learn of his passing.
