Smith, who died at Brooklyn, Saturday night, at the age of 46 years, was brought to Norwich Monday morning where burial was made at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Dr. Smith was for several years a resident of this village being a partner of Burton E. Reynolds in the drug business under the firm name of Smith & Reynolds. He left here only a few years ago and for the past two years has been one of the leading physicians of Brooklyn where he enjoyed a large practice. He was a member of the consulting staff of the Williamsburg hospital at Brooklyn and during the brief period of time he was practicing medicine in that city made a large number of friends by his keen insight into all diseases and by his pleasing personality. Dr. Smith was taken ill with diptheria and on last Tuesday was transferred to the Kingston Ave. hospital for contagious diseases. His physical condition was not of the best which coupled with the fact that he had a weak heart, directly caused his death. He had practically recovered from diptheria, when it was learned that his heart was very weak. Besides his grief stricken wife and two daughters, aged 20 and 14, he leaves an aged Mother, Mrs. Alpheus Smith (Ruth Gates McNITT), of South Broad St., two sisters, Miss Hattie and Mrs. John Simpson of Brooklyn. A short prayer service was held at the Mt. Hope Chapel at 3 o'clock.
