Rose At a Surrogate's Court, held in and for the County of Chenango, at the Surrogate's Office, in the Village of Norwich on the 16th day of June 1884. Present Hon. W.F. Jenks In the name of God Amen. I Alfred G. Rose of Greene in Chenango County and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, that is to say: First: After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath to my brother Oliver P. Rose and Sophina C. his wife, jointly my farm in Smithville, Chenango County, New York in which they now reside to have and to hold forever, to them, their heirs and assigns. Second: I give and bequeath to my adopted daughter Mary J. Rose now the wife of William Adelburt Smith, the house and lot situate in North Main Street in the village of Greene where I now reside with all the appurtenances, thereunto pertaining free and clear also all my household furniture, silver and plated ware, beds and bedding, piano forte &c &c: Reference mirror taken April 1st 1876. Also two thousand and five hundred dollars in Midland L__ Bonds to have and to hold to her and to her heirs and assigns forever. Third: At my decease I direct the residue of my property that may then remain to be divided into five parts and equally given to Charles A. Rose, Daniel C. Rose, Carrie M. Rose, (sons and daughters of O.P. Rose) and to Charles M. Stoppard and William B. Stoppard (My nephews and sons of the late and now deceased James Stoppard. Likewise I make constitute and appoint William A. Smith and William B. Stoppard to be executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me inadq. In Witness thereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the eight day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six. Signed: Alfred G. Rose in our presence, and acknowledged by him to each of us: and his at the same time declared the above ___so subscribed to be his last will and testament: and we at this request have singed our names and witnesses hereto in his presence and in the presence of each other and written opposite our names our respective places of residency.
