The submittor has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ************************************************************************ Transcribed by JeanCoyne James Short's Will--Clinton County, NY pp. 290-294 Be it Remembered, that on the 5th day of July 1892 the last Will and Testament of James Short, late of Ellenburgh in said County deceased, and duly admitted to Probate by the Surrogate of said County, and by him adjudged to be a valid Will of both Real and Personal Estate and Ordered to be recorded with the Proofs and Examinations taken in respect thereto, which said last Will and Testament and Proofs and Examinations are hereby recxorded as follows, that is to say: Will I, James Short of the town of Ellenburgh County of Clinton and State of New York do hereby make and publish this my last Will and Testament. After the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, I bequeath to my wife all my Personal Estate of whatsoever name or nature. I give and devise unto my wife all my Real Estate the same to be held and occupied by her, leased or sold as she may deem fit, the same being for her sole use during the period of her natural life. At the decease of my wife should there remain any portion of my estae or its avails then I give and bequeath to my grand children Willie, James, and Matilda Giles each the sum of one hundred dollars. At the decease of my wife and after the last above named bequest has been paid I give and devise all the rest, residue and remainder of my Estate unto my children, Henry Short, Lucy Mix, Mary Vanderbogart, and Delphine Woodruff share and share alike. I appoint my wife, Hannah, and John W. Havens Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of September 1884. James Short (L.S.)
