The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** State of New York} }Ss.: Columbia County } On this 15th Day of April A.D. 1833 personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Justices Court of the City of Hudson, out of Court, Henry Dick, a resident of the Town of Germantown in said county, seventy three years, who being first duly sworn according to Law, doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. That he was born in Germantown aforesaid in the year 1760, as appears by the Record of the church of said town, now presented before me. That he continued to reside in said town till the War of the Revolution. That in the Spring of the year 1777, about the first of April 1777 he was ordered out in the Company of Capt. Teal (Diel) Rockefeller & Lieutenant Hagadorn, & Regiment of Peter Livingston & Major Samuel Ten Broeck. That he marched in said Company in pursuit of the Tories that they had a battle with some of them near the Great Lake, now in the Town of Taghkanic in said County. That they brought prisoners before a Committee of Safety & thence conducted them to ships to receive them them at "sopus (Esopus), now called Kingston. That he was engaged in said service under the said officers till the last of May, being two full months. Again, about the first of June of the same year, immediately after the service aforesaid, he was ordered out under the same officers as before, marched via Albany to Fort Edward & was there until the middle of July, making six weeks when we were sent home to harvest the grain. Again on the Approach of Burgoyne he was ordered out under the same officers. They marched about the middle of August of the same year to Albany to Half Moon Point. Stayed encamped at Van Schaick's Island some time, thence to Bemis Heights & was there till the taking of Burgoyne, the 19th of Oct., making two full months when he was discharged. Again in the Spring & Summer of the year 1778 he was in almost continuous service under the same officers in his own County. That by reason of old age & loss of memory he cannot mention the particular length of each time, but is positive he served in actual service during said Spring & Summer not less than three months. Again in the fall of the same year he was ordered out under the same officers. They marched via Albany to Shenectdy on an Alarm & they were ordered **** General Schuyler to scour the woods north of Balltown & Saratoga. They pushed on north to Saratoga & stayed there till discharged about the middle of October, when they went home, having served six full weeks. That in all his service he was engaged ten full months. That he was always a private & a volunteer. That he never received any written discharge & has no documentary evidence of his said service. That he has always resided in Germantown since the War. That he has stated above all the officers whose names he can recollect. That he can find no other living evidence of his service than what is here set **** *****. That he hereby relinquishes all claim to any pensioner annuity except the present & that his name is not on the pension roll of the Agency of any State. /s/ Henry Dick Subscribed & sworn the day & Year aforesaid before me, Justice as aforesaid. /s/ J. Fairfield (Certification by Clergyman omitted.) _____________________________________________________________ State of New York} }Ss.: Columbia County } Samuel Ten Broeck, being duly sworn says that he is now a pensioner under the act of June 7th 1832. That during the War of the Revolution he. This deponent, was a Major in the Regiment to which the Company of Capt. Teall (Diel) Rockefeller was attached. That he, the deponent, was out in service in all the times mentioned by the above named Henry Dick. That Capt. Rockefeller was out with his Company at said times as mentioned by said Henry in his Declaration, & he has no doubt that the said applicant was out in said Company. He recollects of seeing said applicant at the north at Bemis Heights & at Saratoga & for the times specified in said declaration. & that said Dick was a good soldier & always ready for the service when called for. & this deponent further says that Said Capt. Rockefeller's Company did much home service in said County in the Spring of 1777 & in 1778. That such service was regular service & performed under the orders of Col. Livingston & this deponent as Major, & he has no doubt that said Dick served as he states. /s/ Samuel Ten Broeck Subscribed & sworn this 15th of April 1833, before me, Justice as aforesaid. /s/ J. W. Fairfield _____________________________________________________________ State of New York} }Ss.: Columbia County } Leonard Ten Broeck of said County, being duly sworn says that he, this deponent, is a pensioner under the act of June 7th 1832. That during the war of the Revolution he, this deponent was a Captain of a Company in Col Livingston's Regiment wherein his brother Samuel was Major. That Cap. Teal (Diel) Rockefeller had command of a Company in the same Regiment, & that Henry Dick, the above named applicant belonged to said Rockefeller's Company. That he recollects distinctly all the services spoken of by said Dick, & was out in all of them. That he, this deponent, recollects distinctly of seeing said Dick at the taking of Burgoyne & on the scout North of Schenectady in 1778. That he has no doubt that said Dick was in all the service as stated in his above declaration. That the length of time specified by said declaration at each campaign is correct. That said Dick was a good soldier & always ready when called for. That some Companies of said Regiment did much service in their own County, & especially Capt. Rockefeller's, & he has no doubt that said Dick was in said service as he states -- as he, this deponent, was on similar service with his Company. /s/ Leonard Ten Broeck Subscribed & sworn the day & year Aforesaid before me, justice as above stated.
