I William Jackson of the Town of Claverack, County of Columbia & State of New York Farmer being at this time weak in body but of perfect mind and memory Blessed be God for it calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and that it is appointed once for all Men to die I do constitute this to be my last Will and Testament _ Imprimis first and foremost I recomend my sole into the hand of God that gave it, my body to be decently buried acording to the discretion of my Executors hearafter mentioned. As to my worldly Estate as pleased God to endow me with I give and dispose of as follows _ Item I give and bequeath unto my loving Wife Nancy one one hundred hundred pounds to be payd her by my Executors hereafter mentioned out of my Real Estate and that she my wife is maintained and provided for by my sd executors during her natural life out of or by my real estate _ Item I give and and bequeath the residue of my sd Real Estate after twenty five pounds being paid my son James out this sd Estate to my four surviving sons To wit William James Robert & Isaac and to the Heirs of my son Hilance Deceased to be equally divided in five equal divisions _ Item I give and bequeath all my personall Estate to my five Dauters To wit to my eldest Dauter Mary and to Nancy Martha Sarah & Isabel all my personall Estate Viz Cattel Horses Sheep Hoggs and all other movible Estate to be divided equallly to the said Dauters in five equal divisions except the Household furnitur which is to remain in the Custody of my wife Nancy during her Natural life it is to be understood that the above sd several gifts is Entended to be given to them their heirs and assigns forever _ My will is and I do hear by will and order that in Consideration of the gifts herein given that Nancy Jackson Ebenezer Soule & Peleg Lipson pay all my lawfull debts and and that my debts be paid out of or by my personal Estate _ I hereby nominate constitute and appoint Nancy Jackson, Ebenezer Soule & Peleg Lipson to be my whole and sole Executors to this my last will and Testament And I do hearby Revoke make nul and void all other wills or wills Testament or Testaments whatever and do ratify and confirm this and no other to be my last will & Testament. Van Ness Surrogate of the said County and being duly sworn says that he saw William Jackson sign & seal the above Instrument purporting to be his last Will & Testament and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament that at the time of executing thereof he the said William was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of the Deponent and that Ebenezer Soule Peleg Lipson and the Deponent severally subscribed their names as Witnesses to the said will in the presence of the Testator. Van Ness Columbia County _ Be it also Remembered that on the fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & one Nancy Jackson the Executor & Ebenez Soule & Peleg Lipson the Executor in the said will named personally appeared before me William W. Van Ness Surrogate of the said County and were duly qualified to the performance & execution of the said will by taking the oath by law appointed. W. W. Van Ness The People of the State of New York by the Grace of God Free and Independent _ to all to whom these presents shall come or may concern send Greeting _ Know Ye that at Claverack in the County of Columbia & State of New York on the day of the date hereof before William W. Van Ness Esquire Surrogate of our said County the last will & Testament of William Jackson deceased (a Copy whichof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now allowed by us and the said deceased having whilst he lived & at the Goods Chattels or Credits within this State by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will and the granting Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels & Credits and also the auditing allowing & final discharging the account thereof doth belong to The administration of all and singular the Goods & Chattels and Credits of the said deceased and concerning his Will is granted unto Nancy Jackson Ebenezer Soule and Peleg Lipson Executors and Executors in the said will named they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required _ In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed _ Witnesses William W.
