In the name of the Holy Trinity God Father, Son and Holy Ghost Amen This sixth day of May one thousand eight hundred & one I Ulrich Sower in the town of Claverack in the County of Claverack [sic] in the County of Columbia and State of newyork, yeoman being much advanced in years, but as yet healthy and of a sound mind memory & understanding do hereby make & publish this my last will & testament in manner following to wit: First of all I desire to be buried in a decent and christian like manner at the discretion of my wife & children hereinafter mentioned, the funeral changes (and debts if any) being first paid. I do devise & bequeath to my widow Rosina and to my son Christian all my real estate to have & to hold the said real estate unto my said widow Rosina during her widowhood and from and after her decease To have and to hold the said Real Estate unto my son Christian his his [sic] heirs and assigns forever. My widow shall live in my house with my Son Christian as before, and if it should happen that my said Widow could not comfortably live with my said Son Christian then & in such case of Disagreement my said son Christian shall pay unto her Order the sum of twenty five Spanish Dollars yearly & every year of her widowhood & disagreement Likewise I do give & bequeath to my said widow Rosina her heirs & assigns one of the best of my Cows, two best sheep one of the best of my bedding with its appurtenances. I do also ordain that my son Christian shall educate my Grand Son Johannis Crocker in a suitable manner and at the time of his maturity or when he shall be married to provide for him a suitable outset in Cloaths & other articles as by the Usage of this Country is Customary My daughters Magdelena, Anna & Christina not had their outset like their other Sisters, when they shall come to be married, I do ordain give & bequeath to each of them their heirs & assigns One Good milch cow two sheep and each their own bedding and that they may live in my house if the [sic] choose until the day they are married to have & to hold for each the said articles thus bequeathed to them their heirs & assigns forever. The Crops of Wheat Rye or whatever seed on the ground or in the barn at my decease shall be used & applied to & for the support & benefit of the family then in my house. My Son Christian & his mother Rosina & my Six Daughters Margaritha, Catherina, Maria Magdelena, Anna, & Christina, shall share & divide all my other remaining personal estate among them selves their heirs or assigns forever. And lastly I do nominate & appoint my trusty friends Christian Dederick & Jacob Michael to be my lawful Executors of this my last will & Testament In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the day & year within written.
