Registered Sept 11th in the year 1816 I, JACOB SHARP, of the town of Claverack in the County of Columbia,Yeoman, do make this my last will and testament - that is to say- First I give and devise unto my son Jacob all my real estate of which I shall die seized. I do also give and bequeath unto my said son Jacob all my personal estate, and in consideration of the above devise and bequest the said Jacob is to pay or cause to be paid unto my daughter Christina wife of Peter FUAY(?) the sum of one hundred and thirty seven dollars and fifty cents to be paid at the expiration of one year after my decease- And the said Jacob is also to pay unto my daughter Gertrude wife of Jehoiakin VAN VALKINBURGH the like sum of one hundred and thirty seven dollars and fifty cents payable in two years after my decease And the said Jacob is also to pay unto my daughter Catharine the wife of Reuben RANNEY (on condition that the said Reuben RANNEY shall first discharge and cancel a certain mortgage that I have executed to the old Loan Officers of the County of Columbia for money which the said Reuben has had for his use) the like sum of one hundred and thirty seven dollars and fifty cents in three years after my decease and the said Jacob is also to pay unto my daughter Anne the wife of William NEW the like sum of one hundred and thirty seven dollars and fifty cents payable in four years after my decease. And the said Jacob is also to support myself and my wife Catharine during our natural lives in such manner as shall be decent and proper and that in case myself or my wife shall choose to go elsewhere to live, pay such sum for our or either of our support as shall be reasonable and just, regard being had to the age and infirmity of us or either of us, and shall in case of the decease of myself and my wife give to us a decent and Christian burial I do also give and bequeath unto Catharine, the daughter of my son Jacob, the sum of fifty dollars to be paid to her the said Catharine, five years after my decease And the said Jacob is also to pay all my just debts of whatsoever nature they may be I do also give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, two horses, the one a grey mare two years old, the other a brown mare(?) one year old, to be kept by the said Jacob until they shall become four years old unless my said wife shall choose to dispose of them sooner And lastly I do appoint John SHARP and John J. MILLER Be It remembered that on the eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, personally appeared before me, James VanDerpoel Surrogate of the said County, John P. SHUFELT who being duly sworn doth depose and say that he saw Jacob SHARP execute the above instrument purporting to be his last will and testament; that at the time of the execution thereof he, the said Jacob, was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of the deponent and that Thomas KIRBY, John J. MILLER and the Deponent severally subscribed their names as witnesses thereto in the presence of each other and in the presence of the testator. (Signed) J. Vanderpoel, surrogate Columbia County --. Be it also remembered that on the said eleventh day of September in the year aforesaid John SHARP and John J. MILLER the (?) (this line, if present, is black and unreadable) in the said will named personally appeared before me James VanDerpoel Surrogate of the said County and were duly qualified to the due performance and execution of the said will by taking the oaths as by Law appointed. Know ye that at Hudson in the County of Columbia, the day of the date hereof before James VanDerpoel Esquire Surrogate of our said County the last will and Testament of Jacob SHARP deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us, and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death, goods chattels or credits within this State by reason whereof the proving and registering the said will and the granting Administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us: the administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto John SHARP and John J. MILLER executors in the said will named, they being first duly sworn will and faithfully to administer the same, and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits, and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required.
