Last Will and Testament of Seth Aldrich, deceased} BE IT REMEMBERED, that heretofore, to wit: on the twenty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty six, Richard Squire, sole executor named in the Last Will and Testament of Seth Aldrich, late of the town of Preble, in the county of Cortland, deceased, appeared in open Court, before the Surrogate of the County of Cortland, and made application to have the said Last Will and Testament which relates to both Real and Personal Estate, proved; and on such application the said Surrogate did ascertain by satisfactory evidence who were the widow, heirs at law and next of kin of the said testator and their respective residences, and said Surrogate did thereupon issue a Citation in due form of law, directed to the widow, heirs at law and next of kin, by their espective names, stating their respective places of residence, requiring them to appear before said Surrogate at his office in Cortland, in said county, on the Sixth day of November, A.D., 1886, to attend the Probate of said Will. And on the 6th day of November 1886 it appearing that among those cited to appear, Lora Aldrich was a minor having no general guardiand and no one of appearing for her and she not appearing in person and John E. Winslow Esq., having filed his written consent ot act as special guardian in these proceedings, our said Surrogate did thereupon appoint said John E. Winslow special guardian to take care of the interests of said minor in these proceedings. And afterward, to wit: on the 6th day of November, A.D., 1886, satisfactory evidence by affidavit was produced and presented to said Surrogate, of the due service of said citation in the mode prescribed by law, and on that day, no one appearing to oppose the probate of such Will, such proceedings were thereupon had in said Court afterward that the said Surrogate took the proofs of said Will hereinafter set forth, upon this 6th day of November, A.D., 1886, and he thereupon adjudged the said Will to be a valid Will of Real and Personal Estate, and the proofs thereof to be sufficent, which said Last Willa nd Testament and proofs are as follows, that is to say: IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I, Seth Aldrich of the town of Preble, County of Cortland of State of New York being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last WILL and TESTAMENT: That is to say, First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Almira the use and income of my entire property and estate both Real and personal during her life. Second, After the death of my said wife, I will and bequeath all my property and estate both Real and personal of whatsever nature and kind to my two daughters named Mary L., wife of Richard Squire and Allice D. wife of Frank Hall to be equally divided share and share alike their heirs and assignees. Likewise, I make and constitute and appoint Richard Squire of Preble to be Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all formerWills by me made. In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the 22 day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy five. Seth Aldrich (L.S.) The above written Instrument was subscribed by the said Seth Aldrich in our presence, and acknowledge by him to each of us; and he at the same time declared the above Instrument so subscribed to be his last Will and Testament; and we at request, have signed our names as witnesses hereto, in our presence and in the presence of each other, and written opposite our names our respective places of residence.
