I Capt. John Concklin of Poghkeepsie precinct in Dutchess County Being in good health but in a advanced age Considering the uncertainty of Life Do make this my last will and testament. First I recommend my soul in the hands of Almighty god who gave it hopeing for salvation through Jesus Christ my Redeemer. and my body to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and Decent Manner and my Temporal Estate I will and Dispose of the same in Manner and form following my will is [?] and I Do Order that all my just Debts and funeral Charges shall be fully sattisfyed within some Conveniant time after my Decease. I Give unto my Daughter susanna and her heirs or assigns the sum of forty pounds and unto my Two Grand Daughters Johanna and Mary Daughter of my Daughter Anna Deceased and to their heirs and assigns the sum of Forty pounds. that is to say Johanna the sum of Twenty five pounds and Mary the sum of Fifteen pounds and as I have paid for my son in law Teunis Tappan who is Married to my Daughter Hester upwards of one hundred pounds, if therefore the said Tappan shall ever repay me or my Executors that Money that I will and give unto my Daughter Hester all the sum of Forty pounds. I give unto my son Matthew all my Farming Utencils as Wagon, slays, plows, etc. the above Bequeths by me given to [or "give unto"? - this whole sentence is obscure to me] my Daughter and Grand Daughters not to be paid by my Executors until after my Estate be sold and the money Received. I Give all my wife's Bedding and Waring apparrel after her Deceas unto my Two Daughters and my Two grand Daughters Each share alike that is my two grand Daughters instead of this mother's one share Between them. I Give unto my son John my Dutch Bible for his Birthright. [something illegible] and I Do Order that my Executors berein after named Do within some convenient time after my Decease Do sell and Dispose of all my Real and Personal Estate of what kind [illeg. word] and wheresoever the same may be for the best price that can be had or may be obtained for the same And the money Ariseing by the sale thereof (After the Above Bequeths by me given unto my Daughters and grand Daughters being first paid) I give unto my seven sons (to wit) John, Lawrence, David, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Matthew and to their heirs and assigns for Ever each share and share alike upon this Trust. Nevertheless that my said sons Do provide a competent and sufficient Maintenance for my Wife During her life, she to have her choice with whome or whereto live on their not complying herewith. I do order that a sufficient sum of money arising out of the sale of my Estate be paid her sufficient for a comfortable support for her during her life and after her Death. Concklin his mark Dutchess County Be it Remembered that on the thirty first day of December One thousand seven hundred and eighty five personally appeared before me Gilbert Livingston Surrogate of the said County Mathew L. Conckling of Dutchess County, Farmer and being duly sworn on his oath declared that he did see John Conckling sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the will of the said John Conckling bearing date the fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-five and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament, that at the time htereof the said John Conckling was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge of him the Deponent, and that his mark with the word Matthew L. Conckling his mark wrote round the same was his signature as a witness to the said will, and that he saw Jacob Westervelt make his mark John L.
