B page 82 note: Dates are in Quaker dating system WILL OF STEPHEN DEAN, OSWEGO Dated 5 October 1795 This fifth day of the 10th mo. in the year one thousand, seven hundred and ninety five, I, Stephen Dean of Oswego in Bakemands (Beekman?) Town in Dutchess County and State of New York, being of a disposing mind and memory think it necessary and do hereby make a distribution of my outward estate by will in the following manner: Vis: Imprimis. It is my will and I hereby order that in the first place that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid in order for which I do direct and impower my executors here after named at this direction to sell as much of my stock and furniture as will, together with my money, fully discharge all my just debts. Imprimis: It is my will that the farm I now live on should be sold and two hundred pounds of good and lawful money of the State of New York be lodged in the hands of my Executors to pay yearly to my beloved wife, Mary, the lawful interest of that sum, and if that should not support her she may draw upon the principal as long as she remains my widow. And it is my will that she should have the best bed and bedding in the house and the best horse and saddle that I have. Imprimis: It is my will that my sons Nicholas, Joseph, Daniel, William, Jonathan, Israel, John, and my daughter Hannah to be paid at lawful age fifteen pounds in good and lawful money of the State of New York to each of them named. Imprimis: It is my will that the rest of my estate be equally divided among all my sons except Larnce (Lawrence), and Daughter, and it is my will at the death of my wife Mary, if there should be any money left of the two hundred pounds, that it be equally divided amongst all my sons and Daughters, except Larnce. Imprimis: It is my will that my son Larnce be paid five shillings for his legacy of good and lawful money of the State of New York. Item (?) I do hereby nominate and appoint my well beloved wife Mary, and my son Zacheus Mashel, (Marshall?) and my son Daniel my only and lawful executors to this my will and statement, and certifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament hereby disallowing and making void all former wills whatsoever in witness whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
