I Peter Germond considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory (blessed be almighty God for the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. that is to say, First I give and bequeath unto my eldest son Peter Germond Junr. The sum of six hundred dollars; I likewise give and bequeath unto my son Ebenezer Germond one hundred and twenty nine Dollars and fifty cents; I likewise give and bequeath unto my son Benjamin A. Germond the sum of three hundred and fifty four Dollars. I likewise give and bequeath unto my son James Germond the sum of one hundred and sixty eight dollars and seventeen cents. I likewise give and bequeath unto my youngest son Elonzo Germond the sum of six hundred Dollars. I likewise give and bequeath unto my two daughters Melissa Germond and Josephine Germond the sum of two hundred dollars each; which said several legacies or sums of money I will and order to be paid to the said respective Legaties with six months after my decease. I further will and order all my real and personal property to be sold and lastly, I will and order all the residue or remainder of my property to be equally divided among all my children viz Peter Germond Junr. Seaman Germond, Ebenezer Germond, Benjamin A. Germond, James Germond, Alonzo Germond, Melissa Germond and Josephine Germond and I do hereby appoint my son James Germond and my good friend James S. Cooke executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve. Peter Germond L.S. Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Peter Germond to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the Testator James S. Cooke, Isaac Germond, Elizabeth Denton Dutchess County ss. Be it remembered that on the eighteenth day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifteen personally appeared before me Derick B. Stockholm, Surrogate of the said County Isaac Germond who on oath declared that he did see Peter Germond sign and seal the annexed written instrument purporting to be the will of the said Peter Germond bearing date the twenty first day of December one thousand eight hundred and twelve and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and Testament. That at the time thereof he the said Peter Germond was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that this Deponent James S. Cooke and Elizabeth Denton severally subscribed the will as witnesses thereto in the Testators presence. Derick B. Know ye that at Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County on the eighteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen before Derick B. Stockholm Esquire Surrogate of our said County the last Will and Testament of Peter Germond deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proven and is now approved and allowed of by us and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death Goods Chattels or Credits within this State by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will and the granting administration of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us: the administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto James S. Cooke and James Germond Executors in the said will named they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also to render a just and true account thereof where thereunto required. In Testimony whereof we have caused the seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness Derick B. Stockholm Esq. Surrogate of the said county at Poughkeepsie the eighteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen and of our Independence the fortieth. Derick B.
