Lewis Historical Pub. Company, pub. about 1947 (?) Vol. 3 Biographies CLARK H. HAMMOND Widely known in professional and public life in this region of New York State, Clark H. Hammond has distinguished himself as a lawyer and judge. He makes his home in Buffalo. Mr. Hammond was born February 23, 1875, in Farnham, town of Brant, Erie County, New York, son of William W. arid Louise A. (Hurd) Hammond. In boyhood he attended Grammar School No. 10, and was graduated from that school, then from Angola Academy. He received his legal education at the University of Buffalo, where he received the degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1897 and that of Master of Laws in 1911. Admitted to the New York State bar on July 29, 1897, Judge Hammond became a member of the firm of Hammond and Hammond in that year, so continuing until 1909. From igio to 1920 he was with Hammond and Hinkley. From 1921 to 1937 he was with Hull and Hammond. Hull, Hammond and Goldstein, an outgrowth of Hull and Hammond, came into existence in 1938 and continued under the same style to the year 1946, when it became Hammond, Goldstein, De Marchi and Farrell, which continues to the present time. Mr. Hammond was a partner with his father, in Buffalo, until he was elected judge of the municipal court of Buffalo in 1904. For six years, through 1909, he was a municipal court judge. Then, from 1910 through 1913, he was corporation counsel of the city of Buffalo. Both of those offices were elective, not appointive. Mr. Hammond's law offices are at No. 39 Erie Street, Buffalo. He is a member of the Erie County Bar Association, the Lawyers’ Club of Buffalo and other groups, and has lectured before the law department of the University of Buffalo. He is a member of the Buffalo Club and the Buffalo Automobile Club. In the Congregational Church he is an ex-moderator of the New York State Conference, as well as an ex-moderator of the First Pilgrim Congregational Church of Buffalo and a member of its board of deacons. In 1898 Judge Hammond married Susan E. Valentine. They live at No. 699 Lafayette Avenue, Buffalo.
