Hendy of Buffalo, has traveled by relatively indirect routes to his present prominent place in business. He was born in Otsego County, New York, on June 29, 1909, son of William L. and Leone (Hubell) Hendy, his mother coming originally from Delaware County. His father, born at Cornwall, Penzance, England, was brought to the United States as an infant and eventually settled in Portlandville, New York, where he engaged in commercial pursuits and railroading. On his mother’s side, Harold A. Hendy is eligible to membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, by reason of three legacies through Joseph DeSylvia. Harold A. Hendy was educated in the district schools of the township of Milford, New York, Hartwick Scmmary at Hartwick, and Colgate University, at Hamilton, this State. His first employment of note was with the Cereal Byproducts Company, of Buffalo, with which he was associated from 1927 to 1938. In 1939, he established the Hendy Feed Company, with headquarters in the Chamber of Commerce Building in Buffalo. He is president of this corporation that whosesales feed and grain, with associated offices at Utica. New York; Boston, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Omaha, Nebraska. Keeping in touch with men in his same line of business. Mr. Hendy is a member of the Chicago Feed Club and the Buffalo Flour Club. He belongs to the city chamber of commerce, the Buffalo Athletic Club, and the Park Country Club. He is a devotee of hunting, fishing and golf, and is a popular member of the Seigniory Club of Montibello, Province of Quebec, Canada. He attends religious services in St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buffalo, and is generous in his support of civic, humanitarian and religious undertakings. At Erie, Pennsylvania, June 22, 1932, Harold A. Hendy married Seretha Liegl, a native of Buffalo, daughter of George M. and Margaret (Wolf) Liegl. Mr. and Mrs. Hendy have a son, Michael George Hendy, born April 2, 1946.
