His grandfather, Carl Kaiser, was the founder of the coal business that developed into the present Kaiser Fuel Corporation. Originally established by Carl Kaiser in 1879, the business was subsequently operated by the founder’s two sons, Charles A. and Martin Kaiser; and at a still later period the third generation of the Kaiser family came into the business. Martin Kaiser, Martin F. Kaiser's father, was one of the representatives of the business as far as the Kaiser family name was concerned from 1881 until his death in 1942. He was active in Buffalo Masonic circles and in the Buffalo Athletic Club and other organizations. His son. Martin F. Kaiser, of the third generation, attended Buffalo public schools and was graduated from Lafayette High School here. Then he entered Syracuse University, where he was graduated in 1919. Meanwhile he rendered wartime service to his country during the First World War, entering the naval aviation service in Boston. After the restoration of peace, he entered the Kaiser Coal Company in 1920. remaining with the organization as it developed into the present Kaiser Fuel Corporation and becoming president of the newer company. The firm style was changed in 1944. As president, Mr. Kaiser is capably assisted by a splendid staff of officers— Charles A. Kaiser, secretary-treasurer, and Charles A. Kaiser, Jr., vice-president and secretary—and many loyal workers who have been with the company for years. In addition to his work with the Kaiser Fuel Corporation, Martin F. Kaiser is a member of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Club, the Buffalo Country Club and the Buffalo Advertising Club. and is a past president of the Buffalo Automobile Club. He belongs to the North Presbyterian Church. Hunting, fishing and golf are favorite sparetime recreations of Mr. Kaiser. He derives a great deal of satisfaction from his work in the Free and Accepted Masons, in which he belongs to Transportation Lodge, No. 842, Buffalo Consistory of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and Ismailia Temple (Buffalo) of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He is a member also of the Royal Order of Jesters. Martin F. Kaiser married, October 1, 1921, in Buffalo, New York, Edna V. Ebbs, of this city, daughter of William W. and Anna (Voss) Ebbs. They are the parents of a son, Robert A. Kaiser, born February 15, 1930, in Buffalo, who became a student at the Nichols School, in this city.
