Lewis Historical Pub. Company, pub. about 1947 (?) Vol. 3 Biographies FRANK J. MAGUIRE For many years an outstanding lawyer and public-spirited citizen of Buffalo and vicinity, Frank J. Maguire is a member of the law firm of Albrecht, Maguire and Mills. of this city, with which he has been connected since 1925. Mr. Maguire was born May 21, 1894, in Danvers, Massachusetts, son of James S. and Johan C. Maguire. His father was a coachman. Frank J. Maguire received his early schooling at St. John's Preparatory School, where he studied from 1908 until his graduation in 1910. He then became active in business life, accepting employment with the England Walton Company, of Boston, Massachusetts, as a clerk. He so continued until 1913. when, going to Washington, District of Columbia. he became a clerk in the post office department. He remained with the post office there until 1916, during the period in which, from 1914 to 1916, he was studying at Georgetown University, in that city. For a time he devoted himself entirely to business life and financial affairs, serving as secretary with the National City Bank in New York City in 1916 and 1917 and in the same capacity with the same organization in Moscow, Russia, in 1917 and 1918. Coming to Buffalo in 1919, Mr. Maguire became a partner in the firm of Albrecht and Weaver, in this city. He entered the University of Buffalo as a law student in the same year, and in 1921 received the Bachelor of Laws degree. He remained with Albrecht and Weaver throughout the duration of that firm, until 1925, when, through a reorganization of interests, it became Albrecht, Maguire and Mills. With this Buffalo law firm Mr. Maguire has continued his association down to the time of writing, performing a highly valuable service to his community and its institutions and people and earning the very high regard of his fellow-citizens. In politics Mr. Maguire is a Republican, although he has neither sought nor held public office. He has had military service and experience as a member of the National Guard of the District of Columbia between the years of 1914 and 1916, there acting as a corporal in Company K, 3d Infantry Regiment. In 1918 and 1919, during the First World War, he was with Military Intelligence, stationed at Headquarters. Eastern Department. Mr. Maguire is a member of the Buffalo Athletic Club, the Park Country Club of Buffalo and the Princess Anne Country Club. He belongs to the Delta Chi fraternity and the Knights of Columbus. He is a member of the Catholic Church. In Buffalo, New York, April ig, 1922, Frank J. Maguire married Irene D. Holorst, daughter of Paul G. and Anna T. Holorst. They became the parents of three children: 1. Anne I., born February 16, 1923. 2. James F., born July 22, 1924. 3. Mary B., born March 23, 1926.
