Herman Licht Will Not Bring Action as Result of His Son’s Death

INQUEST TOMORROW

A New Charge will Probably be Placed Against Arthur Eberfeld,  Now Being Held
for Murder of Tonawanda Lad—Case Adjourned.

   The hearing of Arthur Eberfeld, the thirteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
August Eberfeld of No. 10 Cleveland avenue, on the charge of murder in the first
degree for the shooting and killing of Franklin Licht, son of Commissioner of
Public Works, Herman Licht, was called by City Judge Charles J. Knoell at the
City Hall this morning. As there were no new developments in the case, the
hearing was adjourned until 1:30 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

   Judge Knoell this morning received the decision of Medical Examiner Earl G.
Danser in the case and was directed to hold a medical examiner’s inquest in the
case. The inquest has been fixed for tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the
City Hall and will be conducted by one of the deputies from the Erie county
district attorney’s office. As soon as the inquest is completed, a new charge
will be placed against the boy and he will be arraigned. It is believed that
juvenile delinquency will be the charge and that he will be sent to a
reformatory for correction.

   Herman Licht, father of the murdered boy, stated this morning that he does
not care to prosecute the Eberfeld boy because he believes the case was
accidental. “The prosecution of the lad will not bring back my son nor help the
case and as far as I am concerned, you can let the boy go,” said Mr. Licht.
