WASBURN NOMINATED CORNING, Sept.27 - The Democratic Assembly Convention for the first district
of Steuben county, held at Bath Saturday, nominated J.M. Washburn of Wayne, for Member of
Assembly.


NEWS TERSELY TOLD 

CINCINNATI - A special to the Commercial Tribune from Owensboro, Ky., says Henry Richardson,
colored, is in jail here for assault on Julia Smith, colored, 10 years old. His trial is set
for today. He is likely to be lynched.

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Warner, who are associated in publishing a Sunday
paper in this city and who have on two previous occasions been assaulted by unknown parties,
were awakened by the smashing in of windows by a mob Sunday morning.
