Friends invited. Mr. Andrzejewski served his country and community as a Vietnam Veteran in the US Navy, a Eucharistic Minister and Volunteer Fireman at Aetna Hose Company in Depew. Published in the Buffalo News from 11/21/2004 - 11/22/2004. Bean M.D., Berten C. Doctor Berten C. Bean died Thursday at the Weinburg Campus, after a lengthy illness. Born in Auburn, New York, moved with his family to Syracuse, Weedsport and settled in Buffalo in the 1930's. He graduated from Buffalo Public School 63, Bennett High School, University of Buffalo and UB Medical School. While in the Army he studied navigation at Yale. In 1950 he studied Neuro-Radiology in Stockholm Sweden. During WWII he served as Battalion Surgeon for the 593rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment 'Surf and Sand', in the Pacific where he received among other medals, the Bronze Star for his part in the Borneo Campaign. He also served in New Guinea, Bismark, Archipelago and Southern Philippines. After the war, Doctor Bean moved to North Buffalo and pursued a career as a teaching doctor at Buffalo General Hospital, where he introduced the first CAT Scan to the hospital, as well as other cutting edge techniques learned in Sweden. He retired in 1980. He was a member and elder of the Central Presbyterian Church. He was a fan of the Bills and the Sabres. He enjoyed spending his summers in the Adirondack's, first on Follensby Clear Pond as a child and later at the cabin built by his father on Upper Saranac. He shared his love of fishing, frogging, canoeing, mountain climbing and berry picking with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Bradley Phillip. He is survived by his wife, the former Eleanor Wende, his daughter Barbara (John) Quider, his son Berten C. (Cheryl) Bean, Jr., his grandchildren, Tracey Martell, John B. Quider, Wende Quider, Elizabeth Myers, Shana Copland, Brandon Bean, his great-grandchildren, Jack and Berten Quider and Emma Myers as well as his sister, Ellen Westenfelder and many nieces and nephews. Born on January 26, 1918 in New Rochelle, NY, Margaret was a daughter of Margaret Sutherland Fry and Walter Lincoln Fry. She lived in Scarsdale, NY until her family moved to Michigan in 1924. She graduated from Rogers Hall School, Lowell, MA in 1937. During World War II she was a volunteer Red Cross worker. She married Geoffrey Josiah Letchworth Jr. in February 1941, and they raised their three sons in East Aurora, NY. In 1982, she and her husband retired to Stuart, FL where Geoffrey passed away in 1996. She later lived in Mt. Dora, FL and Laramie, WY. She spent her summers in Scipio, NY. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Geoffrey J. Letchworth III (Sharon) of Laramie, WY, Hayden Letchworth of Ithaca, NY and Thomas Fry Letchworth (Renee) of Clarkston, MI and three grandchildren, Lt.
