Mr. Bayless was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church and a former member of St. James United Methodist Church in Atlanta. He is survived by children, Charles D. Bayless, Lawrenceville, Susan O'Donnell, Nashville, TN, Jane Olson, Hilton Head, SC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Bayless was a native of Oberlin, OH and attended Ohio Wesleyan University. Converse, Elizabeth Seawell 'Bettee' Died peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2005 at Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh, NC. Born June 1, 1911 and raised in Wake County, North Carolina, she attended Women's College in Greensboro, and worked at North Carolina State University. Following her marriage to Robert Converse of Buffalo, NY, they moved to Buffalo, where they resided for 25 years. They returned to North Carolina in 1969. Bettee was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and served as a docent at Morecai House and Haywood Hall in Raliegh. She was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 58 years; siblings, Ellen, Edward, Richard, Henry, Octavia and twin brother, Kenan. Bettee is survived by her sons Robert Jr. and wife, Marilyn B. Converse of Rockville, MD, and Richard and wife, Marilyn N. Converse of Seattle, WA; granddaughters Wendy, Laurel and Juliana Converse; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She treasured family, North Carolina in general, and her family home of Oakforest in particular. She had a spark and strength about her. She brought warmth, joy and a feeling of being loved to all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 12, at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
