He was born September 30, 1932, in Buffalo, NY, the son of Gerard and Frances Glasser. He attended schools in Buffalo, graduating from Canisius High School in 1950, and was a member of the West Side Rowing Club. He graduated from Syracuse University and later earned an MBA from Golden Gate University. In the late 1950s, he served as a first lieutenant in the US Navy, aboard the USS Forrestal in the South Pacific. He worked in the pulp and paper industry for 36 years, where he was a plant manager and outstanding salesman. He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1992 when he fell ill and received a heart transplant at Stanford Medical Center. Survivors include his mother Frances Gohr of Lancaster, NY; and his sons Chris Glasser of Walnut Creek, CA, Grady Glasser and his wife Jennifer of Richmond, CA, and Eric Glasser of Atlanta, GA.
