Age 79 of Manlius, died peacefully and beautifully Sunday evening March 13, 2005 surrounded by family, after a two-year battle with prostate cancer. Harry was born on July 7, 1925 in Buffalo, the only child and dear son of Lillian (Melber) Rutter and Harry T. Rutter Sr. He had a long and distinguished management career. Most recently, he was president of H.T.R. Management Resource Development, Inc. Previously, he was senior vice president, administration, for Crouse Hinds. He also held executive positions with such leading corporations at Westinghouse, General Electric, and Seilon, among others. For five years, he served as director of peace and justice for the diocese of Syracuse. Harry also had an outstanding academic career, where he distinguished himself as a scholar, leader and athlete. He received a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Rensaelaer Polytechnic Institute, and a MS in industrial engineering from Columbia University. During high school and college, he was a nationally-ranked long-distance swimmer, and he also held many leadership position. He served as a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve during World War II. Harry was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and choir member. Harry was the beloved husband of Coletta (Metzger) Rutter; devoted father of Deborah (Robert) Walt, Thomas (Beth) Rutter, Barbara (Alan) Jeff, Robert (Laurie) Rutter, Mary Rutter and John Rutter; loving grandfather of Jonathan, Nicholas, Zachary, Joshua, Benjamin, David, Aaron, Caitlin, Ronald, Jacqueline, Michael and Lisa. Harry and Coletta celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on June 30, 2001. They fell in love at first sight as members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Junior Committee and had a beautiful 53-year marriage.
