He was 80. Born in Irwinton, Ga., he had lived in Buffalo since 1952. From 1952 until his retirement in 1983, Mr. Beal was employed at Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ardella; five sons, Tony, Earl and Keith, all of Buffalo, Larry Mosely of Georgia and Ricky Walker of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Brenda Morrow of Buffalo; two sisters, Corene Smith of Irwinton, Ga., and Sara Lee of Miami; two brothers, Willie Beal and Charlie Milline, both of Atlanta; 22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at noon Monday in Calvary Baptist Church, 1184 Genesee St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn. CORLISS - Mildred J. Rudolph, teacher 4/3/2005 BATAVIA - Mildred J. Rudolph Corliss of Bennington, a retired teacher and devoted church member, died Friday in Genesee County Health Facility after a short illness. She was 100. She was born in Attica and lived in Bennington for more than 80 years. She was a Town of Darien school teacher for two years when she was in her early 20s and was later a homemaker. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and the church Women's Guild for nearly 80 years. She also was the church organist for more than 35 years. She was a member of Bennington Senior Citizens, Bennington Home Bureau and the County, State and National Grange for more than 80 years. In 1924, she married Frederick Rudolph, who died in 1971. Two year later, she married Glenn Corliss, who died in 1975. Survivors include two sons, Richard Rudolph of Akron and Donald Rudolph of Bennington; two daughters, Myra Phelps of Indian Falls and Lois Pond of Highland Falls; two stepsons, Carroll Corliss of California and Frank Corliss of Batavia; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem United Church of Christ, Clinton Street, Bennington. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica. DIRSCHEDL - Karl G., GM employee 4/3/2005 Karl G. Dirschedl of Cheektowaga, a retired General Motors employee, died Friday in Sisters Hospital after a long bout with diabetes. He was 62. Mr. Dirschedl worked for General Motors' Chevrolet Plant on Delavan Avenue for more than 37 years. He also ran Genesee Wine and Liquor. Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Canisius High School and attended Canisius College. Known for his good nature, his friends called him "Fat Cat." He followed baseball all his life. . He belonged to the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, the former Bernette Kastner; his mother, Marie Loeffler of the Town of Tonawanda; two sisters, Barbara Heckmann of Kenmore and Cathy Radcliffe of Albany; and two step-sisters, Margie Niemczyk of West Seneca and Marian Wischerath of Cheektowaga. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary of Sorrows Church, 333 Guilford St. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga. LEONE - Lucy C., Diocese of Buffalo worker 4/3/2005 Lucy C. Leone's family on Saturday recalled the warm letter that Bishop Edward D. Head sent her when she retired after working 19 years in the Diocese of Buffalo Chancery office. "He said he "expected the two of them would be together in the future,' " recalled her daughter, Janice Hodan of Kenmore. On Tuesday, Bishop Head died. On the following day, Mrs. Leone, a resident of Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village, died in Sisters Hospital at age 95. Born Lucy C. Gianni in Buffalo, she worked for years in sales at Hens & Kelly and Berger's department stores. After nearly 20 years with the Diocese of Buffalo, she retired in 1993. She was the widow of Joseph S., who died in 1994. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Joseph of Mayville; two sisters, Marie Pollina and Rosine Lorefice, both of the Town of Tonawanda; a brother, Virgil Gianni of Kenmore; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. NUNN JR. - John A., owned electrical business 4/3/2005 John A. "Jack" Nunn Jr., of Newstead, longtime owner and operator of an electrical contracting business, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, following a long illness. He was 70. Mr. Nunn was born in Buffalo and graduated from Seneca Vocational School and electrician journeyman school. He served 25 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a second class electrician's mate. Mr. Nunn ran Jack Nunn Electric in Alden from 1955 to 1997, when he retired. He served as a chaplain with the Alden Fired Department and as chief chaplain for the New York State Association of Fire Chaplains. He was a founder of the Alden Pantry and a former warden at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, the former JoAnn M. Brown; a daughter, Julie Ann Barr of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Jeff A. of Depew and John A. III of Akron; a brother, James W. of West Seneca; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Requiem Eucharist will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 13021 W. Main St., Alden. Burial will be in Marilla Cemetery. RUSSO - Louis R. 4/3/2005 A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in St. Leo the Great Church, 885 Sweet Home Road, for Louis R. Russo, 78, of Amherst, the founder of Marvino's Pizzeria. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3063 Harlem Road in Cheektowaga. Mr. Russo died unexpectedly Thursday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in New Castle, Pa., Mr. Russo attended public schools in Buffalo and graduated from Technical High School. He went to work for the City of Buffalo in 1952 as a laborer with the Streets Department and worked his way up the ranks to city inspector before retiring in 1985. He opened the first Marvino's Pizzeria in 1961 at 1854 Genesee St., before closing it in 1974. A second location, which he opened in 1972 at 480 Evans St. in Williamsville, is still run by his family. Mr. Russo retired from the business in 1996. He was one of the founders of D.E.M. Guys, a group of cardiac patients at the Village Glen Health and Fitness Center in Williamsville. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Ann Girone; a daughter, Lou Ann Lombardo of Amherst; two sons, Louis R. Jr. and Michael J., both of Amherst; a sister, Phyllis Caputi of Amherst; a brother, Rudolph Alloy of Tonawanda; and eight grandchildren. TRAVIS - Mildred C., homemaker teacher 4/3/2005 A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred Crane Travis will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 450 Abbott Road. She died in her home Friday after a long illness. She was 86. She grew up in the Old First Ward and was awarded scholarships to Holy Angels Academy and D'Youville College, graduating with a bachelor of science degree from D'Youville in 1940. She married Jim Travis in 1946 and dedicated her life to raising their six children. When the youngest started school, she attended the University at Buffalo and earned her teaching certificate in the early 1960s, working afterward as a substitute teacher for about 15 years. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, twins Ann Ersing of West Seneca and Kathleen Cloos of Buffalo, and Marynell Zieziula of New Hope, Pa.; two sons, James C. of Orchard Park and John J. of West Seneca; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the mausoleum at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
