Charles Spittler became a showmaker and he and his wife Elizabeth Peck settled in North Evans, NY. Edith Metz's grandparents (John and Eva Catarina Lang Metz) came to the US from Blankenloch, Germany in 1835 when Edith's father Jacob was only 3 years old and settled in Eden, NY. George and Edith Metz Spittler started a slaughter house and meat market which later expanded into a grocery store ("Spittler's Food Store") in Lake View, NY in 1904. George Spittler also help found the Lake View Volunteer Fire Dept in 1923 and was its Chief for 23 years.
