I, William Allen, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory helped by almighty god for the same do make & publish this my last will & testament in manner & form following (that is today) First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Susan Allen the sum of seven hundred dollars for her behalf and use to be paid out of the money or notes which is due to me from different people. Likewise two years of the present house & homestead after my decease in which we now reside, also that she enjoy the use & benefit of all my household furniture during her lifetime and after her decease that the furniture be equally divided between my natural heirs. Secondly, I give & bequeath devise to my youngest son David Allen my homestead being & lying in the town of Perth County of Fulton consisting of or containing twenty acres of land (with all the opportunities) more or less to hold to him the said David Allen his heirs and assignees forever. Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Jean Monteith and to my grand son William McFarlane and my granddaughter Elizabeth Allen twenty dollars each. Fourthly and lastly as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate goods and chattels of what kind and nature so ever I give and bequeath to my beloved children to between them divided as follows to John Allen my oldest son or his heirs or assignees one half and to Elizabeth McFarlane my daughter her heirs or assignees one quarter and to David Allen my youngest son his heirs or assignees one quarter. And I do hereby appoint my son David Allen and Robert McBeatty Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty three.
