Baxter Died on Monday Well-Known Florist Had Been Ill Ten Days Condition Became Serious Sunday Afternoon When He Was Removed to Hospital Robert V. Baxter, well-known LeRoy business man and proprietor of the Lake Street Greenhouses died at 3:50 o'clock Monday morning at St. Jerome's Hospital in Batavia. While he had been ill for the past ten days with ulcers of the stomach, his condtion did not become serious until Sunday afternoon when he was removed to the hospital. A transfusion of blood failed to improve his condition and he failed steadily. Mr. Baxter was born in LeRoy on June 2, 1873, a son of the late Alexander and Mary Ellwerd Baxter, and had passed his entire life here. He had been a florist for many years, being connected with the Baxter Greenhouses on Wolcott Street. Later he was florist for Edward H. Butler, Ernest L. Woodward and Donald Woodward. He established the Lake Street Greenhouses in 1928. Mr. Baxter was a member of St. Peter's church and for many years was a member of its choir. He was a member of the Batavia Council, Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society and the LeRoy Business Association. He was also an exempt member of the Chemical Hose Company. On August 26, 1920, he was married to Miss Margaret Sweeney of LeRoy, who survives him with three sisters, Mrs. Samuel W. Morgan of LeRoy, Mrs. Charles Sylvester of Sinclairville, and Mrs. Henderson Smith of Broughty Ferry, Scotland. Funeral services for Mr. Baxter will be held from St. Peter's church at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. Internment will be in St. Francis cemetery.
