I give and bequeath to my two sons Robert S. Lewis and Wm. A. Lewis, to each the sum of One thousand dollars; to my two daughters Caroline M. Perry and Amelia A. Boxworth to each the sum of Seven hundred and fifty dollars. The above bequests to my children are in addition to any receipt or obligation I may hold against any or either of them of a date prior to January 1, 1868, and relative to any contract or obligation which I may have of the said date of January 1st 1868 or subsequent thereto against either of my children or their husbands; it is my will and I so order that the several legacies to each as above devised, shall first be applied in each several case to cancel and fulfil said contract or obligation if any there be at that time, and I hereby authorize and direct my Executors to fulfil and carry out for me and on my behalf, all such contracts and obligations, if any there to at the time of my decease, according to the letter and spirit thereof. 2nd. I give and bequeath to my grandson Alvah W. Lewis, five hundred dollars and to my granddaugter Stella J. Lewis the like sum of five hundred dollars. The claim of the heirs of Sabrina Lewis my second wife deceased, if legally established to be a just claim against my estate, as well as all other just debts against me are to be paid, or satisfied. After providing for the above items of the residue of my estate, if any, my will is. 3rd. I give and bequeath to my two daughters in law viz. to Cornelia Lewis and Celia A. Lewis the widows of my deceased sons, to each the sum of fifty dollars as a token of remembrance. 4th. I give and bequeath to the Trustees of teh Baptist Church at Pavilion NY, the sum of twenty dollars in cash successive year for five years from the time of my decease for the support of the gospel in said church and payable at the close of each year upon due proof that Baptist preaching has been continued and maintained constantly by said church during the then past year. 5th. I give and bequeath to the Trustees of the American & Foreign Bible Society for the --- and purposed of said Society Two hundred dollars, payable in two years from my decease. It is my will and desire that suitable tombstones (not expensive) be erected over my remains to be buried at Pavilion. Lastly. All the rest of my estate both real and personal of whatsoever name or nature I give and bequeath to my two sons Robert S. Lewis & William A. Lewis and to my two daughters Caroline M. Perry and Amelia A. Bosworth to be equally divided among them share and share alike, and I appoint my son Robert S. Lewis & my brother Samuel J. Lewis Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others or former wills by me at any time made. The above instrument consisting of one sheet weas on the 9th day of May in the year of our Lord 1870 publised and declared by the said Denby Lewis as his last Will and Testament in presence of us, who at the time and in his presence and at his request and in presence of each other have signed our names thereto as witnesses. John H. Yates Batavia, Genesee Co. N.Y. Alvin J. Fox Batavia, Genesee Co. N.Y. Robert S. Lewis, aforesaid, and Caroline M. Perry, Amelia A. Bosworth. Also W. Lewis and Stella J. Lewis, the heirs and next of kin of said testator who are of full age, having in writing waived the issue and service upon them of a citation to appear before said Surrogate and attend the proof and probate of said will, a Special guardian was appointed for the purpose of taking care of the interests of Fred Lewis, Frank Lewis, Walter Lewis and Augustus D. Lewis the minor heirs and next of kin aforesaid in the proceedings for the proof and probate of said Will, and the further proceedings herein were adjourned to this day: and said Executor appearing for the purpose of proving said Will and the said Special guardian also appearing in behalf of the minor heir and next of kin of aforesaid.
