He learned his trade in Chicopee Falls and came to Ilion in 1847. He has been a contractor in the Armory for over forty years and has charge of the forging done in the works. Mr. Baker married Julia Manning, by whom he had one son, Franklin A., who married a Miss Davenport. Franklin A. Baker died in 1888, leaving four sons.
