He was engaged in different shops in Connecticut until 1861, when he came to Ilion, where he was connected with the armory as contractor for twenty-five years. He now does the drop forging and cold pressed work for the Wyckoff, Seaman & Benedict Typewriter Company. In 1856 he married Sarah M. Spencer, and they have seven children, three sons and four daughters. Mr. Baker is a prominent Mason, and has been chief of the Ilion fire department.
