H., of Little Falls, is a native of Union Square, Oswego county, N.Y., and was educated there. He traveled for himself for some years and then started business in Watertown, N.Y., with his brother. April 11, 1880, he inaugurated his present enterprise in Little Falls, and has conducted it most successfully since, his place having the reputation of being the leading fancy dry goods, notion, and millinery house in Little Falls. Mr. Brown's ancestors were natives of New York State for three generations before his time. In December, 1888, he married Harriet Davies, of Cleveland, O., and they have one son. Mr. Brown is a Republican in politics, and the family are members of the Episcopalian church.
