His grandfather was Aaron Budlong, a native of the town, also born in the old family homestead, which was settled by is great-grandfather Aaron Budlong, he being one of the first settlers, when it was a forest. Rebecca (Miller) Budlong, the mother, was a daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Miller of Miller's Mills, Columbia. A.L. Budlong was married November 3, 1880, to Julia Marriner, one of three children of Edward and Julia (Frost) Marriner of New York City. They have three children: Edward Marriner, Fred Eugene and De Elmo P. Budlong (died in infancy).
