He is a member of the Methodist church, in which he has been a trustee. He married Thurza, daughter of Thomas and Lucina (Fisk) Adams, and they have one son, Henry W. They lost one, Sergeant Samuel Guile, who died on the battle field May 10, 1864. He was a member of Company B, One Hudred and Twenty-first Regiment, Sixth Corps, and died at the battle of Spotsylvania Court House, in Virginia.
