He was for many years a heavy shipper of grain from Buffalo to New York. When thirty-eight years of age he married Miss Mary Kirkland, and they have three sons, Samuel, assistant superintendent of the Erie canal for Herkimer county; Charles Floyd, mail clerk on the New York Central; and George B., who lives in Chicago. Mr. Cary's father, Samuel, was a native of Oneida county and his grandfather also Samuel, came from New Hampshire.
