Colcord, J.T., Herkimer, is a native of South Berwick, Maine.  He began his 
business career as a clerk, and after spending some time in the west, came to 
Herkimer in 1887, and opened his present business of dry goods, fancy goods, 
etc.  His ancestors resided in Maine for several generations.  Mr. Colcord 
married a daughter of Louis Webster, but she died in 1889.  He has one 
daughter.  He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and is an independent in 
politics.
