He was a carpenter by trade and followed it up twenty-five years ago, when he took up farm gardening, which he has since followed very successfully. His father was Minor Crumby. He served in the army in 1812 at Sackett's Harbor. In 1851 John A. Crumby married Mary Benckly and they have two children, a daughter and a son, Elizabeth and Frederick. Mr. Crumby is a Democrat and has belonged to several societies. He is one of the old residents of this part and one of the best known men in the locality.
