He received his education in the district and village schools of Herkimer county, and took one term at the Syracuse University. Since leaving school he has been actively engaged in managing his extensive dairy farm of 284 acres. He keeps forty head of cattle and eleven horses and is one of Herkimer's most energetic and enterprising farmers. Mr. De Long is a member of the Grange, the Masons, and of other social organizations of the town. Several of his ancestors were soldiers in the Revolution, and at Sackett's Harbor in the war of 1812.
