He came to America in 1849. He began the gun trade with his father, and was subsequently in the army. He was with the Hammond Typewriter for some time, and has been three years with the Typewriter company, for which he has been superintendent this long time. He is the inventor of an aligner of great utility, performing what was long contended could be done only by hand. Several other devices and improvements on typewriters are to be credited to him.
