The latter were born in Yorkshire, England, and settled in Albany in 1841, where he followed carriage making. In 1844 he came to Little Lakes and carried on a shop, employing from five to sixteen men. They had twelve children. Thomas W. Ellis at the age of sixteen began his trade in his father's shop, and has followed it since. He is a Democrat, and has been town clerk. He married November 17, 1889, Pauline Colyer, daughter of James and Corintha Armstrong. They have one child, Annetta.
