Author: Hardin & Willard

Gerhart, Louis, Dolgeville, was born in Germany, June 28, 1852. He received a
good education in the schools of Germany, and in 1870 came to this country. 
After working on a farm for some time, Mr. Gerhart learned the mason trade, 
and worked in this industry for seventeen years, after which he purchased a 
very desirable property in Dolgeville, opposite the Cottage Hotel, and 
established his present liquor business, which he has since most successfully 
conducted. Mr. Gerhart married Miss Wagner. They have two children, a boy and 
a girl.
