It contains 150 acres of fine dairy land and upon it he keeps about twenty-five head of cattle besides other stock. Mr. Helmer has four children living, two boys, Hannibel and Dwight, and two girls, Mrs. Annie Bracket, and Mrs. Eugene Snell. Helmer's ancestry is of German descent. His grandfather was in the war of the Revolution, and his father in that of 1312 at Sackett's Harbor. His son, Dwight Helmer, assists him on the farm, and his other son, Hannibel Helmer, is engaged in the meat business in Dolgeville. Both sons have received an academic education.
