P., Herkimer, was born in Herkimer and received his education in the schools of this village. He learned the trade of a machinist, at which he worked for about seven years, since which time up to the present he has been engaged in the hotel business. He has conducted hotels in Colorado, Pennsylvania, etc. During the Centennial at Philadelphia (1876) he conducted two hostelries. Mr. Holden now owns an elegant confectionery and restaurant in Herkimer, which he inaugurated in 1885. He also does a wholesale commission business in fruits and produce. He married Harriet J. Clemens, of Frankfort. Mr. Holden is identified with the local fire company, Red Men, Business Men's Association, an order of United Friends and is first sergeant of teh 21st Separate Company volunteers. He will also conduct a hotel at 130 West Van Buren street, Chicago, during the World's Fair.
