In 1862 he enlisted in Company D, 121st N. Y. Regt., and participated in many notable battles, among them the Wilderness, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville, and he was wounded and taken prisoner. He was honorably discharged in July, 1865, and then took his present position, which he has held ever since. He is a charter member of Frank Mann Post, and has been commander for two years. He married Mary Molk, and they have three sons and four daughters, one of the sons and all of the daughters being married.
